Thank you to a number of girls who went to visit National Grid HQ in Warwick as a part of wider project to encourage girls to take up STEM related careers.

National grid have recently been recognised as a Business in the Community winner for Inspiring the Workforce of the Future 2015. Given their success with the CC4G program, they have pledged to do more by expanding their great work by targeting a wider age range and number of schools, they have therefore set up a new initiative #Girls2Tech which is sponsored by National Grid Information Services.

Why are National Grid doing it?

Their recent reports have highlighted that:

  • At GSCE level 44% of females take IT related subjects,
  • At A Level this figure dramatically drops to just 6%.

In order for the #Girls2Tech program to make a real difference they must understand the root cause of this issue.
