20th March 2014

Dear Parents/Carers,

You may already be aware that there is a day of industrial action on Wednesday 26th March 2014 involving one teaching union. This is not related to the academy but is part of wider national industrial action.

I am contacting you on behalf of the Governing Body, to inform you that the school will be closed for Years 7-10 on Wednesday 26th March. This is due to the greatly reduced staffing levels that are expected on the day. Please note, Year 11 pupils should attend school as normal.

On a day such as this when some staff will be in and others not, some pupils would experience interruptions to their learning for most, if not all of the day. In addition, national union agreements do not permit the use of other teachers to cover for members of staff that are taking industrial action. However, we can accommodate Year 11 and will use this time to focus on vital exam preparation and coursework completion.

I apologise for any disruption this will cause and thank you in advance for your understanding.

Yours sincerely

Becky Elcocks
Principal
