Dance Festival

On Tuesday 2nd July 2013, Mr. Blackwood took eight Four Dwellings Academy students to Halesowen College to participate in their first ever Dance Festival. Our students had the chance to showcase their work alongside Earls High School, Bartley Green School and the college’s students themselves.

This exciting opportunity was the culmination of work our students had done over a series of weeks with two dance specialists – Kallista Hill (who is looking to very soon start regular dance classes at the Academy on Saturdays) and Matthew Grieh of “Antics Dance Crew” (a crew who recently won a place in Sky’s “Got To Dance” Grand Final!).

The afternoon was truly inspiring for our students; they engaged with other dancers through sharing their work and were wowed by the performances of performers. Afterwards all of our students agreed that they are keen to continue this work and hope to perform to their peers back at the Academy, for Key Stage 2 pupils at the Primary Academy – and beyond!

Very well done to all, thanks to Matt and Kallista (and Mr. Flynn and Ms. Smith for their support) and here’s to the future!
