End of Term Message from the Principal

I can’t believe it is already the end of my first term at Four Dwellings Academy. It has been a very busy time with lots of change and development, Year 11 exams and then a HMI visit last week!

I am very pleased to say that the visit went well, and Ofsted recognised the progress that the academy has made in the short time since it has opened. This is a reflection of the hard work of staff and pupils, and the support and encouragement we have received from parents and the local community. I would like to thank all involved for their contribution this term. The academy letter will be published on the Ofsted website next week and available for you to read. There will also be a link from our Academy website.

Also, a reminder that due to the change in our pastoral structure we will have a new academy tie from September and pupils in Years 8 -11 will have one issued free of charge on their first day back. In addition, to support our drive to be a healthy academy, fizzy drinks and caffeine based drinks like ‘Boost’ will not be allowed in school. Research indicates that these types of drinks effect concentration and are often high in sugar and additives. Please support us in ensuring that your child brings only water or juice to school. Water will continue to be available to all pupils from a dispenser throughout the school day.

The Autumn term begins on 3rd September for new Year 7 pupils (they should bring their PE kit) and 4th September for all other pupils. Pupils must be in school at the normal time of 8.45am.

Have a great summer and I look forward to working with you to support your son/daughter’s progress over the next academic year.
Ms R. Elcocks
