Primary Liaison

As part of our primary liaison work, Four Dwellings Academy invited pupils from two local schools to visit us yesterday.

Sixty Year 5 pupils from World's End Junior School visited our music department during the morning.
The Year 5 children had heard our samba band at a community concert last year and were invited to a drumming workshop to have a go themselves.

Head of Music Mrs Leigh was more than happy to oblige and (assisted by Year 9 pupils Lucy, Abigail, Ellie and Heather) Year 5 received a thunderous drum lesson, produced some fantastic rhythms of their own and had loads of fun!

Later on in the afternoon twenty Year 3 pupils from Four Dwellings Primary Academy came across to meet with Mrs Tehan (teacher of English) and her Year 7 group who has a special surprise for them – self produced books! Year 7 had written their own fairy stories, illustrated them and bound them into books.

They read these to Year 3, who then took them away to treasure. Before they left there was an opportunity to create their own personalised bookmark, eat a cookie and receive a free copy of 'Tom’s Sausage Lion’  by Michael Morpurgo to read at home!
