To be, or not to be...

posted 10 May 2013, 04:47 by Matthew Shenton
For many years Four Dwellings has proudly been involved in the annual Shakespeare Schools Festival. This year, our entry will be ‘Hamlet’ which Head of Drama Mr Blackwood describes as “one of Shakespeare's most epic plays, the story deals with murder, betrayal, the supernatural, revenge and madness - all light stuff!”

Mr Blackwood is looking for a troupe of skilled actors to take part in 'Hamlet' and is holding open auditions on Monday 3rd, Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th June 2013. All auditions are at 3.30pm-5.30pm and in the Drama Space (Room 901)

Pupils at Four Dwellings have enjoyed taking part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival for many years,  previously wowing audiences with ‘Romeo and Juliet’ in 2009, putting on a spellbinding ‘Tempest’ in 2010 and a stunning ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ in 2011. 2012’s play was 'Macbeth', which was well-received by all who watched and participated - just ask those who saw it and were in it!

Last year Four Dwellings not only performed at the sold out Artrix theatre in Bromsgrove (as is part of the Festival), but also at the Custard Factory in Digbeth. We are hoping to repeat this idea of performing our work in other venues across the city.

Hamlet will be performed as part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival in November 2013 at the Artrix Theatre in Bromsgrove. So, if you want to be involved in this exciting project, please come along to audition dates.
